In the hills of Rwanda, where traditions are passed from one generation to another, the story of the basket begins in the hands of a skilled artisan. Early in the morning, natural fibers such as sisal are carefully prepared. Each strand is slowly woven together using a traditional coiling technique to form the basket. Once the structure is complete, delicate beads are carefully added, giving the basket its distinctive beauty and decorative character.

With patience and precision, the artisan begins at the center of the basket. Gently guiding the fibers in a spiral, the basket slowly grows wider with every turn. Each movement of the hands reflects years of knowledge, culture, and dedication passed down through generations.

Each stitch carries a story—of heritage, resilience, and creativity. Traditionally, baskets like this were used in homes to serve food, store grains, or present gifts during gatherings.
